His father bequeathed to him one-half of Talbott's Ridge, on the north side of West River, which he sold thirty years afterwards to one of his half brothers.

The half of Poplar Knowle and the half of Talbott's Timber Neck which he inherited after the death of his brother, Richard Talbott, some years later, passed into the possession of his brother, Edward Talbott. Probably a few years after this brother's death, he married Sarah, only daughter of John and Sara (Thomas) Mears, of the Clifts, Calvert County, and great-granddaughter of John Mears, who seems·to have served in the British Navy 1632-7, on the same vessel with her great granduncle, Thomas Rice.
