His nickname of "Grampy" came from his first grandchild.
He worked virtually until the day he died. His death might have had something to do with the fact that he had to pay an enormous amount of capital gains tax to the IRS, an institution he despised, after selling a piece of property he had owed for some time. Shortly afterward, his health deteriorated, and he never recovered.

Omar Jean Wilson, 90, of Vista, CA, died Friday, 24 May 1991.
Born on Wednesday, 4 July 1900, in Peoria, IL, he was the son of the late Helena (Fuelling) formerly of Costa Mesa, California and the late Herman Treadway Wilson formerly of Redlands, San Bernardino County, California.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Janice E. (Messerly) Wilson, daughter of the late Everett Alpheus Messerly formerly of Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California and the late Emma Gertrude (Stumpf) formerly of Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California.
Omar Jean is survived by three children, Everett Richard and his wife Nancy Joanne (Dobie) of Glendale, Los Angeles County, California, Nancy Helena Martin of Glendale, Los Angeles County, California, and Victor and his wife Doris Suzanne (Keim) of Glendale, Los Angeles County, California; six grandchildren, Gregory Neil Raven of Hollywood, Los Angeles County, California, Gary Wayne Raven and his wife Lynanne (Tuttle) of Long Beach, Los Angeles County, California, Jeffrey Alan of Newport Beach, California, Dobie of Costa Mesa, California, Bruce Michael and his wife Dorothy Nicholes (Georgeoff) of Newport Beach, California, and Kenneth Bradford of Costa Mesa, California; four G grandchildren, Caden Jan Houson of Valley Center, California, Erika Eliza Jennifer (Raven) of Seattle, Washington, Hailey Ann (Houson) of Valley Center, California, and Heather Elizabeth of Bonsall, California.
Omar Jean was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothea; four grandparents, Jean-Ludwig Fuelling of Washington, DC, Doretta (Lear) of Washington, DC, Sarah (Treadway) Wilson of Indiana, USA, and Louis C. of Indiana, USA; one granddaughter, Jennifer Jean (Raven) of Escondido, California.
