Funeral of Messerly to be today
Pioneer laundryman will be given final rites at Forest Lawn Cemetery
Funeral services for Everett Messerly, 59-year-old pioneer laundryman of Southern California, who died suddenly at a dinner in the banquet room of the Diaond Laundry Building, Eighth street and Towne avenue, Wednesday night, are to be conducted today at 2 p.m. from the funeral parlors of Teck & Chase, 1213 South Figueroa street. Interment is to be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Messerly, who was president and general manager of the Home Laundry, Pasadena, leaves his widow, Mrs. Gertrude E. Messerly, and three married daughters. He had been a leader in the laundry industry for forty years and was a thirty-second-degree Mason as well as a member of many other organizations. He made his home at the Louise Dryden Apartments, Glendale.
The veteran laundryman was describing a trip around the world he was planning to take next summer, during the course of an after-dinner talk, when he suddenly gasped and fell unconscious to the floor. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgia-street Receiving Hospital by Police Surgeon Saverien.
