Kirksville, Mo. -- Mineral Ridge, OH -- Memorial services will be 11 am Saturday at the Mineral Ridge Church of Christ for Dr. Robert J. Blickensderfer who passed away Sunday morning, November 13, 2011, at Select Specialty Hospital in Warren.
Robert was born July 9, 1934 in Dover a son of the late Russell and Nola (Sherman) Blickensderfer.
A United States Navy Veteran, he served on the USS Yorktown during the Korean Conflict.
Dr. Blickensderfer treated patients at his practice and taught at the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine both in Kirkville, MO.
He was a member of the Mineral Ridge Church of Christ, enjoyed numerous artistic activities, and was an avid gardener.
He will be sadly missed by his wife the former Barbara Garris whom he married August 21, 1960; children: Dr. Scott (Dr. Janelle) Blickensderfer of South Bend, IN, and their children Jamie, Leah, and Eric, Sharon Blickensderfer of Fairway, KS, Brian Blickensderfer of Austin, TX and Dr. Amy (Dr. Chuck Dietrich) Blickensderfer of St. Louis, MO and their daughter Ashton; and his twin brother John (Mary Lee) Blickensderfer of Dover.
Besides his parents, Robert is preceded in death by a sister Sue Klemper and a brother James.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Welfare League Shelter, 545 Brunstetter Rd SW, Warren, OH 44481 or the church in Robert’s name.
At the request of Robert there are no calling hours.
