Born on Friday, 31 March 1922, in Monroe, LA, he was the son of the late Leonard Theodore Roosevelt Hodges formerly of Fresno, California and the late Mattie Bernice (Jones) formerly of Fresno, California.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Evangeline (Sandling) Hodges, daughter of the late Elmer Athmalone Sandling Sr. formerly of Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California and the late Effie Emily (Lamm) formerly of Bell Gardens, California.
Leonard Edward is survived by two children, Leonard Edward Jr. and his wife Michelle Marie (Manchester) of South Gate, CA, and Laura Evangeline Raven and her husband Gregory Neil Raven of East Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California; ten siblings, Lois Bernice Nason and her husband Robert Lee Nason of Crowville, LA, Mary Eveline of Tallulah, LA, James David and his wife Iva Fayrene (Ward) of Winnsboro, LA, Huey Percy Long Hodge and his wife Betty Jean (Reed) of Winnsboro, LA, Julian Lee and his wife Emma Louise (Bogue) of Newlton, LA, William Lewis and his wife Linda Diane (Belew) of Kerman, CA, Judith Diana Hyde and her husband James Edward Hyde of Kerman, CA, Herbert Vernon and his wife Barbara Bernice (Bradach) of Kerman, CA, Merle Kay, and Charles Brady and his wife Janet Marie (Carlson) of Madera, CA; two granddaughters, Bailey Renee of Fresno, California, and Mattie Rose of Fresno, California.
