Elise Y. Blickensderfer, 81, of the Country Club Retirement Center and a longtime Dover resident died Saturday, June 14, 2003 at Union Hospital.

Elise retired as a secretary for the Dover Chemical Corporation. She also assisted her late husband in his business, the former Philblix Card Shop. She also formerly worked at Union Hospital.

Born March 18, 1922 in Washington D.C., she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Lydia Frey Yaden.

Elise was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Dover. She also was a member of the Business and Professional Women, Past Pres. and former Secretary of Junior Achievement, and served on the Tuscarawas Philharmonic Board for many years. She also formerly taught Sunday School at St. John's U.C.C. at Dover.

She was a graduate of Ridgewood High School in New Jersey and attended New York University. She formerly taught ceramics and enjoyed traveling to Europe, Belgium, England and had resided in Denmark. She took many bus trips with her late friend, Nola Blickensderfer.

Elise was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Blickensderfer who died June 23, 1964.

She is survived by her brother, B. Alan Yaden of Hawthorne, New Jersey; three nephews, Rodger Yaden of Hawthorne, David (Liz) Yaden of Branchville, NJ, and William (Heather) Yaden of New York and her longtime friends, Dan and Phyllis Ames of New Philadelphia.

At her request, cremation will take place. A public memorial service will be held Sunday, June 29, 2003 at 3 pm in the First United Methodist Church at Dover with Dr. David Oliver officiating.Those unable to attend or who may wish to express a fond memory of Elise may sign the online register book by visiting the ''online obituaries'' link on our website at www.tolandherzig.com Inurnment will be in the Eastlawn Cemetery at Sugarcreek.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tuscarawas Philharmonic or the First United Methodist Church at Dover. The Toland-Herzig Funeral Home in Dover is handling the arrangements.
