Records 7:3247. July 13, 1814. Br. Pfohl went to the German settlement and held the funeral of the married man, Jacob Spönhauer, whose mother passed away in April. One could be glad for his release from need and misery. For about twenty years he suffered from a sore on his leg which would not heal, and which was made much worse this year by the use of false curatives. The leg had to be taken off, and he had hardly recovered from the operation when he developed quick consumption, which brought his end. He was in the thirty-fifth year of his age.
