In 1810, George went to Tuscarawas Co, Ohio, where he married Susan Pickel, who appears to have been a sister to Martin Keller's wife. He was a farmer and resided about a mile north of the village of Tuscarawas.

An account by Rodger Beals has him marrying Marie Ricksecker, although that does not seem possible if he was married to Susan Pickel from age 19 until the day he died at age 31.
